Mechel says sells rolled steel to olefin plant construction
MOSCOW, Aug 18 (PRIME) – Mechel Group’s sales firm Mechel Service has sold nearly 14,000 tonnes of rolled steel for construction of Ethylene-600 olefin plant in Nizhnekamsk, the steel company said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Russia’s leading producer of synthetic rubber and ethylene Nizhnekamskneftekhim completes assembly of large-size equipment at the Ethylene-600 olefin complex. About 14,000 tonnes of rolled metal products -- sheets, shapes and more than 11,000 tonnes of beams produced by Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, part of the Mechel group, were delivered to produce steel structures of the complex,” the statement announced.
Ethylene-600 will enable Nizhnekamskneftekhim, Russia’s leader in production of synthetic rubbers and plastics, to produce additionally 600,000 tonnes of ethylene, as well as 272,000 tonnes of propylene, 246,000 tonnes of benzene and 88,000 tonnes of butadiene annually.
